Many of us bloggers and on-line trainers follow Amy Porterfield for her clear step by step explanations of how things work. She’s the “perfect” marketer who has it all together…yet this week she shared this about eating her feelings:
I wanted to eat today. Like eat A LOT.
I wasn’t hungry. In fact, I just had breakfast…yet I was thinking about what I could plow though in the pantry.
I wanted to eat to numb this incredible uncomfortable feeling of being stuck.
I am deep in it right now – creating my next new online course. Today was messy. Nothing flowed. I felt inadequate. The familiar whisper came back as a very loud jerk… “You can’t do this.”
Oh hi, old friend. I know you well.
Up until about six months ago, I ALWAYS ate my feelings. All of them. Good, bad and sometimes even neutral…
Thank you Amy for summing up emotional eating for us and letting us know that even you sometimes feel inadequate, sometimes get stuck, and sometimes eat your feelings. Most women (and men too) do this from time to time. It’s perfectly normal. But for some of us emotional eating has gotten out of balance, and we need to bring ourselves back to center. Everything on this website will support you in doing that by helping you quit dieting and restricting, learn how to experience emotion without the need to use food for soothing, and accept your body as it is.
