If you can get into nature safely now is a good time. A new study concludes that even a two hour dose of nature can significantly boost health. Any type of nature will do from urban parks to beaches, although the researchers didn’t include backyard gardening due to the chance that some people view that as a chore rather than a joy. And the best news is that any amount of nature, even small, has cumulative benefits.
According to lead researcher Dr. Matthew White:
The benefits of a two-hour dose were the same for both young and old, wealthy and poor, and urban and rural people, he said. It also applied to those with long-term illnesses and disabilities, White said. “So getting out in nature seemed to be good for just about everybody. It doesn’t have to be physical exercise – it could be just sitting on a bench.”
