I’ve only thought of chewing gum as negative – bad for your teeth and stomach, made of strange substances, and a no no if you’ve got braces. But apparently there are some positives to consider as well. A recent research study found that chewing gum raises your heart rate and increases energy burn while walking.
The most intriguing potential benefit in my mind is if gum can help you with stress or anxiety, perhaps as a substitute for crunchy comfort food.
A lot of this comes down to how you feel about artificial sweeteners, what’s the state of your digestion, and whether or not you enjoy gum.
